The Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries and Nutrition (LFN) span across a land of approximately 6 acres in Makandura area since it’s start from 1999 and has been expanding ever since. The Faculty of LFN is located in the midst of Makandura, in Kurunegala District in the North Western Province and is conveniently located to numerous major cities including Kurunegala (60 mins), Colombo (50 mins) and Negombo (35 mins). The Faculty premises is enclosed by green fields of paddy and other vegetations allowing a haven of peace away from busy city centers providing a calm and serene environment for students to study and staff to go about their work. The Faculty is located closer to the Wayamba Industrial Zone with locations with Mawathagama and Polghawela Export Processing Zones and harbors several other industrial estates such as Dambadeniya, Pannala, Lunuwila and Dankotuwa. The Faculty is also surrounded by a couple of important research institutions in the country including Coconut Research Institute, Lunuwila and Rice Research and Development Institute, Batalagoda, providing access to much needed industrial and research exposure to students and the staff. There are ample places to shop for food and other necessities in Pannala and Makandura city limits and the Faculty is only an hour away from the Bandaranaike International Airport making it very convenient for the students and staff to access overseas travel. The climate is usually tropical, with a marked dry season, and temperatures averaging between 20 °C in January to 25 °C in March, with a rainfall around 1100-2000 mm per year creating a hassle-free weather. Surrounded by a caring and a loving community, the Faculty of LFN provides a safe, tranquil and resourceful environment for students and the staff to achieve academic excellence and continue to be a service of society and the country to hail Wayamba University of Sri Lanka to become a flagship educational institute in Sri Lanka.
